Livecup 2010 Re-cap
Big thanks goes out to everyone who made this past weekend’s Livecup 2010 a success; Adidas, Redbull, Guu Izakaya, Know?Show, Color Magazine, Ea Sports, Vancouverisawesome.com, and Fortune Sound Club. Adidas generously supplied everyone taking part in the tournament with home/away Livecup 2010 jerseys, shorts and socks, as well as a box full of extra kicks up for donation to help raise money for the Right to Play organization. If you did not have cash with you and would like to donate please click HERE to help out, all proceeds go to Right to Play. Redbull came through with a ton of product and their sound system for our buds Dj Age and Brendan Butter to play some tunes to keep us moving. Farpostgoals.com was kind enough to loan us our goal posts needed for the day. Our good friends at Guu provided plenty of food for everyone in attendance, including lunch kits as well as a delicious stir fry and freshly grilled fish after the matches all finished.
We lucked out having a blue bird day, with no clouds in sight, it turned out to be a perfect day for competition. Intense action went down as the day unfolded and warmed up. The Double Elimination Tournament allowed for some match ups to go down twice depending on who ended up in the losers bracket. After a fierce first round of action the second games saw the demise and eventual knock out of both VIA and EA sports who were sent packing due to shootouts. Livestock managed to get even with Fortune Sound Club in a rematch, knocking them out of the tournament in yet another shootout. The following round we saw Know?Show knock Color out and LiveStock exit due to a tuff last minute goal from team Redbull. Unfortunately for RedBull, a well rested Know?Show was eagerly awaiting their matchup and ended up cruising relatively quietly passed Redbull and into the finals. GUU was running with an undefeated record, all the way to the heated final match up with team Know?Show. GUU played a hard match, winning the game 3 – nil and the tournament, defending their undefeated record the entire way. Move of the day (attempted) definitely had to go to Know?Shows Perry P ( it was an attempt at a bicycle kick, and he is still hurting because of it!) Best Goal Celebration was awarded to Team Color, Best Bully was awarded to RedBull’s Rhys, Best Dive went to Know?Show’s Amy, Surprise Player of the Day went to Fortune Sound Club’s Rob Rizk, and the MVP of the Tournament was awarded to our very own goalie – John P! All in all a great day was had by everyone involved and we can’t wait to do it all over again next year. Click on any of the thumb nail photo’s to see larger images. Livestock & Adidas – Livecup 2010 this Sat July17th @Strathcona Park
July 17th Livestock & Adidas brings to you the first annual LIVECUP soccer tournament at Strathcona park, East Field off of prior street next to the skatepark. Teams competing in the tourney will be Livestock, Color Magazine, Guu Izakaya, VancouverisAwesome.com, Red Bull, EA Sports, Know?Show, and Fortune Sound Club.
The event , which will be hosted by Livestock’s very own Cyrus, is a Half Field, Blind Draw, Double Elimination Tournament, which means each team is guaranteed at least 2 games and will advance based on wins. The matches that will be drawn the day of at the pitch are randomly selected.
After each winner’s brackets game the winner moves over to the next blank line and the loser goes to the corresponding letter in the loser’s bracket. After each loser’s bracket game the winner moves over to the next line, but if your team loses while in the Loser’s bracket you will be out of the tournament.
Games will be two 15-minute halves with 5-minute half time and 5 minute lost time. (40 minute total) In the case of a tie, there will be a shootout.
Come out to support your favourite team, enjoy some food catered by Guu, kick back and listen to some music brought to you by our good friend Dj Age on the Red Bull Sound System.
Donations in support of Right to Play will be gladly accepted through out the day, Right to Play is a great cause that helps to improve the lives of children in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world by using the power of sport and play for development, health and peace. Be there bright and early – Kick off is at 11am!
Canada Day BBQ Re-Cap
Shout out to everyone who came out last Thursday for the 3rd annual Canada Day Jamboree and big ups to the people who made it happen : Cherchez La Femme, Easy Now, Radio Zero, and Fortune Sound Club. Tons of great food and friends, nice mellow vibe in the park as always. Thanks to all the teams that took place in the Livestock Basket ball tourney, most importantly the finalists; in 3rd place Fast Chais, 2nd place runner up Truth is light, and the winning team that was presented the $500 Gift card to Livestock, The Dubs. Hope everyone else enjoyed their Canada Day Long weekend. If you missed out, don’t worry, there’s always next year.
Canada Day Basketball Competition with $500 prize
For all of you celebrating Canada Day in Vancouver tomorrow, Livestock, Vancouver is Awesome, Fortune Sound Club, and Cherchezlafemme will be hosting the 3rd annual Canada Day Jamboree from noon till dusk at Strathcona park. We will be sponsoring a 3 on 3 basket ball tournament that starts at 2pm, so far there are 16 teams involved, if you want to enter the tourney, email Ian at – igranville@gmail.com. A Grand Prize $500 Gift Card to Livestock will be awarded to the winning team. Along with an amazing BBQ spread put together by Lords of the BBQ and Dj Tanner, there will be a Soccer Challenge brought to you by Vancouver is Awesome, a Kitsch Skate team demo, Lemonade stand, 17+ Dj’s, and a Live performance by Vancouver’s own Love and Electrik. The after party will be held at Fortune Sound Club, where we will be celebrating Radio Zero’s 6 yr anniversary with a live performance by Denmark’s Who made Who, join the facebook event HERE
