About a month ago I was down in LA hanging out with the guys from the hundreds. The topic of the olympics came up and I was asked if I had planned on going. I said no and really had no intentions in partaking with the up coming event. Thanks to NIKE I have avoided one of the biggest disservices I could have ever done to myself. Photos are taken from the big picture on the Boston Globe
Over the past 6 days I have been a tourist in my own city, one of the lucky people to be a NIke guest. I along with a few “key retailers” was hosted by the swoosh for the last six days of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. They put us up at the Loden hotel in Coal Harbour area of Vancouver. If you ever get the chance you should stay here the service and food was amazing.
My olympic adventure was a little skewed towards hockey. We saw 8 games in 5 days. I’d only been to two hockey games in the past and they did little to prepare me for the full force of Canadian hockey fans. The first day I saw team USA play and they seemed like they knew how to take care of some biz.
Team Canada’s loss to the US and a tie in one other game set us up to be knocked out by the gold medal favourites. The Russians.
who are lead by this guy…….. looks like he’s ready to take car of some shit. To bad for him team Canada handed them an embarrassing 7-3 win. After a 3-2 win over slovakia that set up the Canada Vs USA gold medal game and a jackpot for scalpers. As we were leaving the game there were dudes with signs “gold medal game tickets $4,000″, rumours had them going for as much as $20,000 a ticket for prime seats
Of all the things I watched it was coolest to see the ladies hockey team win gold. For sure the mens was insane but the ladies are all amateurs, and there is no level for women like the NHL. This is the highest level for them, was dope to see.
Overall the Olympics were amazing for Vancouver, for Canada and for myself. Again a huge thank you to nike for the love.
Our good friends Otis & Howard Grant alongside Neil Forester just opened up a new MMA gym in Toronto appropriately called ‘Grant Brothers Boxing & MMA‘. This is their second location in Canada, the first being in Montreal where the brothers grew up. With the help of Neil, a music scene veteran and businessman here in Toronto, they finally had a chance to give the thriving Toronto MMA scene something to drool about. With 4 world reknowned trainers to help and train their attendees/customers there is no doubt in our minds that some great fighters will merge from this camp.
On opening night last weekend they had none other than Dan Henderson in attendance. Fans alike got to meet and chat with the former champ himself. Below is a picture of Dan standing in front of a custom ‘Tapout” piece done by Livestock TO co-owner Skam (who also did the massive Rockstar piece). Moreover if you live or are planning to visit T.O and your into MMA, you should definitely check out this gym. Click the link for more info on Grant Brothers Boxing & MMA.

I’ve been anxiously waiting for the past 10 days for this box to show up. Gotta get some work done then I’ll rip it open and show you what’s inside.

Found this trailer over at W+K (wieden and kennedy) blog. If your not familiar with the name, they are the same agency that came up with the recent release of the “Coraline” Dunk, as well as coming up with Nike’s famous campaign “Just Do it”. I’ll let the trailer speak for itself, but if you would like to know more information check out this site: http://artandcopyfilm.com/
