The best clothes in your closet aren’t always the fancy ones, or the ones that you bought for a specific occasion. Though those are great too. The best pieces in your wardrobe are the ones you find yourself reaching for over and over again. The sweater you wore so much the elbows began to fade and the knit got thin, the hoodie with a slight tear in the sleeve, the sneakers you scuffed into oblivion after wearing them relentlessly. These items don’t just hold texture, they hold our histories. In a world of mass-produced everything, character isn’t something you can buy, it’s earned.
KHAKIS knows your clothes were meant to be worn, not preserved. Founded in 2020 by thisisneverthat’s former design lead, Junhyung Seo, KHAKIS produces garments that gain meaning over time. Focusing on the everyday flow of life, Seo designs pieces that can go and grow along with you – denim jackets that fade with wear and tear, waffle hoodies that were made to be layered, shorts with enough pockets you can leave the tote bag at home.
Based in Seoul, KHAKIS’ design team works from vintage archives. Adjusting colour and washing techniques, they give new garments the look of something worn over time. It’s inspired by the 90s, but grounded in the now. Seo’s interest in how things gain meaning over time reverberates through every collection – meaning isn’t necessarily inherent, it’s gained through the production process and then taken a step further by the wearer.
The Spring ‘26 collection is no different. Relaxed, unfussy, easy. These aren’t pieces that demand attention, they earn it over the years as they take on the character of our lives. You can wash and mend your clothes whenever, but life happens in its own time. Your wardrobe should reflect the life you lead.
