COMME des GARÇONS HOMME
Despite meaning “like the boys,” COMME des GARÇONS was originally geared towards women when Rei Kawakubo debuted the label in 1969. On top of that, it took the Japanese designer nearly 10 years to introduce her first menswear line — with COMME des GARÇONS HOMME appearing in 1978 — as Kawakubo sought to disrupt conventional men’s fashion. The ensuing HOMME collections have succeeded with this notion in mind, offering designs spanning decades — reimagining traditional menswear with pieces that are more refined, exploratory and texturally diverse.
